What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is “The Science of Healthy Living”- a holistic approach to healthcare that helps people live long, healthy and well-balanced lives.

The wisdom of Ayurveda can be found in Vedic scriptures dating back over 5000 years. Yes! These texts may be ancient, but their principles are timeless.

In the hustle and bustle of todays world, we are losing sight of our spiritual, physical and mental health. Many of us think taking care of ourselves is a luxury, but with the stressful lifestyles we lead, taking time out to focus on ourselves in now a necessity!

Yoga and Ayurveda both have their origin in the Ancient texts and vedic scriptures of India. While yoga has become widely established for its benefits to the mind, body and soul, it has now opened a path to its sister Science, Ayurveda. Ayurveda provides great insight into a healthy lifestyle, diet,  pre-diagnostics, stages of disease and symptom management.

The foundation of Ayurveda is found in the Rig Veda; the oldest of the vedic texts. It describes the five elements of creation, Panchamahabhutas (ether, air, fire, water and earth); and introduces the 3 primary forces, Doshas; (Vata Pitta and Kapha). Our genetic make-up is created from different proportions of these elements (Prakruti). Vikruti, is when our natural balance is offset by many factors including, poor diet, lifestyle, stress, climate, accidents, etc.

Ayurveda aims to bring back balance, to ensure optimal wellness and spiritual enrichment.

We are all interconnected, though we are all unique.
